Great Smoky Mountains Railroad is seeking a Special Events Coordinator in Bryson City, NC to lead licensed events, weddings, private charters, and seasonal experiences. You will guide staff, vendors, and performers, ensuring guest satisfaction, safety, and operational continuity during events.

The role requires coordinating timelines, staffing plans, and post-event review, with a focus on continuous improvement and interdepartmental communication.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality & Tourism Management or related field.
• Experience in special events, hospitality, attractions, or live production preferred.
• Experience supervising, scheduling, training, or leading staff preferred.
• Strong customer-service and problem-solving skills in public-facing roles.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English (written and spoken).

Responsibilities

• Plan and coordinate GSMR licensed events and private charters.
• Lead event staff and manage in-event decisions for guest experience and safety.
• Develop event timelines, run-of-show, staffing and checklists.
• Coordinate with departments to meet goals and safety standards.
• Recruiting, onboarding, training, and development of personnel.
• Handle admin tasks: timekeeping, payroll, contracts, budgets, purchases.
• Post-event evaluations and continuous improvement.
