Job summary

Cleveland Metroparks is seeking a Special Events & Catering Coordinator to lead planning, coordination, and execution of high-quality events at the Patrick S. Parker Community Sailing Center and other designated locations.

You will collaborate with culinary, service, and operations staff, manage client communications, staffing, budgets, and vendor coordination, and ensure hospitality and safety standards are upheld throughout the event lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in hospitality or event planning and 2+ years of experience.
• Willingness to obtain TIPS Alcohol or ServSafe Certification and First Aid/CPR within the first six months of employment.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Experience with Tripleseat and Toast preferred.
• Strong communication and leadership skills.
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and event management software.

Responsibilities

• Lead banquets and special events; meet clients, sell space, and manage proposals.
• Coordinate event details from setup to tear-down.
• Design and price menus with Catering Chef and Culinary Operations.
• Oversee hiring, training, and development of catering staff.
• Maintain strong client communication with internal stakeholders.
• Manage event budgets and ensure revenue controls.
• Place orders, maintain inventory, and coordinate with vendors.
• Assist with restaurant and concession operations.
• Travel throughout the park district to support events.
