Job summary

Family of Kidz is seeking a Special Educator to serve as the lead in an 8:1:2 classroom for the 2026-2027 school year in Mt Vernon, NY. The role is a leave replacement with responsibilities across IEP-guided instruction, data collection, and collaboration with families and school teams.

The position requires NYS certification in SWD (1-6) and a commitment to implementing individualized, multisensory teaching aligned with IEP goals and behavioral plans.

Qualifications

• NYS Certification in SWD (1-6 or all grades)
• Experience with IEP goals, BIP, and related services preferred
• Bilingual is a plus

Responsibilities

• Lead Special Education Teacher in an 8:1:2 classroom for the leave replacement
• Develop and implement individualized, differentiated, multisensory instruction
• Create lesson plans, schedules, and routines addressing academic and behavioral needs
• Implement IEP goals, accommodations, and BIP with fidelity
• Collect and analyze data on IEP goals and student progress
• Complete progress reports and district records on time
• Maintain a structured, safe classroom with proactive behavior management
• Support teaching assistants and staff to implement programs
• Collaborate with service providers, families and school team
• Communicate with lead supervisors and school team regularly
• Maintain attendance and submit electronic billing daily
• Attend CSE meetings and participate in required trainings
• Attend home and community visits if applicable
