Job summary

DeKalb County School District seeks a Lead Teacher, Special Education, to support collaborative delivery of services and to prepare Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) for students. The role requires strong communication with general education staff and effective program oversight.

The ideal candidate will have a Master's degree in Special Education or related field, with endorsement/certificate in Georgia SPED leadership and experience in speech therapy settings.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Special Education, Speech-Language Pathology, or a related field from a Professional Standards Commission approved college or university.
• Georgia PSC approved director of special education endorsement required or certificate in educational leadership at SRL-5/SRNL-5/PL-6 or above; prior experience in SPED and speech therapy with diverse students preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in delivering services and evaluating Speech-Language Pathologist performance to ensure compliance with educational standards.
• Provide input to action plans for achieving outcomes in special education and speech therapy.
• Support SLPs with training and guidance on procedures to ensure effective service delivery.
• Assist SLPs with daily tasks and responsibilities to facilitate efficient operation in the therapeutic environment.
• Interact with clients and professionals to enhance communication channels and service provision.
