Job summary

Space Dynamics Laboratory (SDL) is seeking a Design Engineer to design detailed space hardware and subsystems in our Strategic & Military Space Division. You will establish and document requirements, work with teams to turn ideas into hardware, and participate from concept through design, test and delivery.

The role requires 5+ years of experience, a Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering degree, NX CAD proficiency, and the ability to obtain DoD clearance.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5+ years of relevant experience.
• Bachelor's degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering.
• Proficiency with CAD tools; NX preferred.
• Experience leading design with cross-disciplinary teams.
• Ability to document design processes and technical plans.
• Track record of collaboration with engineers across disciplines.
• Clear communication with diverse technical audiences; slides.
• U.S. citizenship with ability to obtain DoD clearance; travel may be required.
• Open to travel and off-site work as needed.

Responsibilities

• Design primary and secondary aerospace structures and systems.
• Create CAD models and deliver presentations to customers.
• Coordinate with engineering disciplines for program decisions.
• Identify issues, develop solutions, and communicate impacts.
• Lead, mentor, and collaborate with engineers across teams.
• Manage schedules and tasks to meet expectations.
• Develop and present at design reviews; prepare BOMs and procedures.
• Support program management, analysis, procurement, and manufacturing.
