Job summary

True Anomaly is seeking a Principal Power Engineer to be the technical authority for spacecraft electrical power systems, defining the architecture and standards that ensure power is generated, stored, and distributed reliably from launch through mission end.

You will mentor engineers, drive design reviews, and steer EPS integration with avionics, software, and harness subsystems to deliver on-orbit advantage.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • Minimum 12 years of experience in electrical power systems design for spacecraft or high-reliability EPS.
  • Deep expertise in solar arrays, Li-ion/LiFePO4, charge control, DC/DC converters, and power distribution.
  • Experience with spacecraft power modeling, analysis, and fault management.
  • Proven track record owning power system architecture from concept to delivery.
  • Strong command of derating, worst-case analysis, and reliability methods.
  • Understanding of radiation effects on power systems and mitigation techniques.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with cross-functional influence.

Responsibilities

  • Own architecture for spacecraft electrical power systems across programs.
  • Lead trade studies balancing performance, risk, cost, schedule, and SWaP.
  • Drive design, analysis, and verification of power hardware from concept to on-orbit.
  • Develop power budgets and fault management strategies for diverse missions.
  • Conduct derating, worst-case analysis and FMEA for power hardware.
  • Lead radiation and reliability analyses and mitigation plans.
  • Define validation approaches including EMI/EMC, thermal vacuum, and vibration tests.
  • Oversee system-level EPS integration with avionics, software, and harnesses.
  • Set EPS design standards and best practices across the engineering organization.
  • Lead design reviews and represent power systems to stakeholders.
  • Provide mentorship to engineers in EPS and avionics.
  • Support hardware through production, integration, and launch.
