Job summary

Blue Origin LLC is seeking a Senior Power Systems Engineer in Washington state to design, analyze, and architect power systems across our space portfolio, from launch vehicles to orbital platforms and lunar surface assets. You’ll own power system design at both system and subsystem levels.

You will lead architecture, perform system trades, define interfaces, and ensure reliability in harsh environments while collaborating with multiple engineering teams.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of aerospace power systems engineering experience.
• Knowledge of space power architectures: solar arrays, Li-ion batteries, fuel cells, RTGs, power electronics, and distribution.
• Experience with system-level engineering and hands-on subsystem work.
• Proficiency in power system modeling and simulation tools.

Responsibilities

• Lead power system architecture and design for spacecraft, launch vehicles, and surface assets.
• Perform system-level trades and detailed subsystem analysis (solar arrays, batteries, power electronics, distribution, harnesses).
• Define requirements, interfaces, and verification approaches for power systems.
• Analyze failure modes, develop fault tolerance strategies, and design for reliability in harsh environments.
• Support integration, test, and anomaly resolution through flight operations.
• Collaborate with thermal, avionics, structures, and mission design teams to optimize integrated vehicle performance.
