Job summary

AeroVironment, Inc. is seeking an Optomechanical Engineering Manager in Albuquerque to lead a 4–6 engineer team across optical and mechanical disciplines. You will drive design from concept through production for diverse space programs and develop detailed schedules and specs.

You should have 15+ years in mechanical engineering for space systems, strong CAD/FEA skills, GD&T, and the ability to mentor staff and interact at design reviews with customers and suppliers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering.
• 10 years of mechanical engineering experience across structural and thermal analysis, CAD design, GD&T, and space hardware.
• Experience with SolidWorks and design verification. Strong technical writing.
• Current or desired U.S. security clearance is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Lead and grow a small Optomechanical team of 4–6 engineers.
• Support design execution from concept through production on space programs.
• Develop schedules, define requirements, and verify design against specs.
• Collaborate across functions and drive process improvements.
