Job summary

The Boeing Company in Seal Beach, CA is seeking a Lead Fault & Autonomy Engineer to drive fault and autonomy architecture for first-of-kind space vehicles. You will coordinate with internal and external stakeholders and serve as a core contact for customers, leading multidisciplinary teams in fast-paced programs.

The role requires a strong background in spacecraft subsystems, ACS/GNC, flight software, or spacecraft operations, and a capability to define solutions in minimally-defined design

Qualifications

  • Active U.S. Top Secret/SCI security clearance required (or active within past 24 months).
  • BS degree in engineering, engineering technology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science or CS.
  • 3+ years in Satellite Systems Engineering.
  • 5+ years in systems engineering, systems integration and/or software engineering.
  • 3+ years of failure analysis experience.

Responsibilities

  • Support technology integration for first-of-kind space vehicles and missions.
  • Develop and present review packages to internal and external senior leadership.
  • Work proactively in a fast-paced, demanding atmosphere.
  • Ensure system hardware designs have adequate redundancy for fault tolerance.
  • Develop autonomy aligned with customer risk tolerance in presence of anomalies.
  • Analyze system failure modes (FMECA/FTA).
  • Develop software requirements for onboard fault protection and safing.
  • Design autonomy or ground procedures to recover from failures.
  • Provide on-call support for system anomalies.
