Job summary

The Boeing Company in Seal Beach, CA is seeking an Experienced Fault & Autonomy Engineer to join the ESG SEIT Mission Design team. You will lead the fault and autonomy architecture for space vehicles, coordinating with customers and SMEs to rapidly iterate practical solutions that meet mission needs.

The role emphasizes end‑to‑end system design across ACS/GNC, flight software and spacecraft operations, with on‑site work requirements and eligibility‑based flexibility to work from other locations.

Qualifications

  • Active U.S. Top Secret/SCI clearance required, or recently active in past 24 months.
  • BS degree in engineering, physics, math, data science, CS or related field.
  • 1+ years with Satellite Systems Engineering groups.
  • 1+ years in systems engineering, systems integration, or software engineering.
  • 1+ years in failure analysis (FMECA or similar).

Responsibilities

  • Support development of first‑of‑kind space vehicles and missions.
  • Develop and present review packages to senior leadership.
  • Work proactively in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Ensure hardware redundancy for fault tolerance.
  • Develop autonomy aligned with customer risk tolerance.
  • Analyze failure modes via FMECA or fault tree analysis.
  • Create software requirements for onboard fault protection.
  • Design autonomy or ground procedures to recover from failures.
  • Occasional on‑call support for system anomalies.
