Job summary

Belmont Village Senior Living in Buffalo Grove, IL is seeking a Sous Chef to supervise and prepare meals in a fast-paced, senior living kitchen. You will train new staff, ensure recipe adherence, and deliver high quality plating while maintaining safety and sanitation standards.

The ideal candidate is reliable, customer-service oriented, and able to work Sundays through Thursdays 9:30am–6pm or similar shifts.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum 1 year of related experience in a high-volume restaurant with supervisory responsibilities.
• Proven advanced culinary skills such as knife handling, food preparation and presentation.
• Ability to work assigned shifts including mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays.
• Clear verbal and written English communication.
• Reliable attendance; background check and TB test may be required.

Responsibilities

• Supervises kitchen and dining room staff and food production in the absence of the Chef Manager.
• Prepare meals from scratch according to recipe specifications and quality standards.
• Follow recipes, manage portion control and ensure attractive plate presentation.
• Manage cook times while preparing and handling several orders simultaneously.
• Maintain kitchen cleanliness and order, ensuring compliance with regulations and procedures.
• Follow checklists and company procedures to keep kitchen stocked and maintained.
• Prioritize hospitality, resident satisfaction and excellent service in every interaction.
