Job summary

Compass Group USA is hiring a full-time Sous Chef for Cafe 401 in Chicago, IL. The role supports the Executive Chef by preparing dishes and coordinating kitchen staff to meet production standards.

Shifts run 6:00 am to 2:30 pm, with days potentially varying. Prior lead cooking experience is preferred, and online applications are accepted. The position offers a fixed pay rate of $25.00 per hour and opportunities for advancement.

Qualifications

• Previous lead cooking experience is preferred.
• Ability to supervise kitchen staff and coordinate cooks.
• Prior experience in a fast-paced food service environment.

Responsibilities

• Cooks and prepares food following approved recipes and production standards. Ensures all deadlines are met based on production orders.
• Supervises hourly food service associates. Includes interviewing, scheduling, payroll, training, counseling, participating in reviews and recommending disciplinary action, as appropriate.
• Stores food in designated areas following all corporate, state and federal food safety and sanitation procedures.
• Maintains sanitation of equipment, supplies and utensils.
• Interacts with customers to resolve complaints in a friendly, service-oriented manner.
• Demonstrates complete understanding of daily menu items and accurately explains them to associates and customers.
