Job summary

Encina Wastewater Authority seeks a Source Control Inspector to support the EPA-approved pretreatment program. You will monitor CIUs/SIUs/NSIUs and BMPs for compliance, review permits, and assist with enforcement actions under CWEA guidelines.

The role requires field inspections, data entry, and coordination with multiple agencies to protect public health and the POTW. California licensure and CWEA certification pathways are emphasized.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in physical, natural, or environmental science or related field; master's may substitute for up to 1 year of experience.
• CWEA Environmental Compliance Inspector certification at Grade 1/2 is preferred or to be acquired within 12 months of hire.
• Valid California Class C Driver's License required and maintenance of insurability.

Responsibilities

• Conduct routine compliance inspections of industrial and commercial facilities to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local wastewater regulations.
• Review wastewater discharge permit applications and submittals; write and review technical documents; maintain timelines for inspections and permit renewals.
• Prepare documentation to support administrative functions, review lab reports, and enter data into pretreatment database.
• Coordinate plan reviews and new business tax license reviews; assist with enforcement actions and reporting.
