Job summary

The Lead Sonographer at UVMMC - Medical Center - Main Campus performs diagnostic ultrasounds and other required modalities in the Diagnostic Ultrasound department. Examinations are conducted independently under physician supervision and with peer collaboration as appropriate.

The Lead Sonographer leads and mentors staff, holds applicable credentials, and meets time/experience requirements. A minimum of 8 hours per week is allocated for administration and leadership duties, with yearly evaluation

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Certified by ARDMS in Abdomen, OB/GYN, and Vascular (required).
• Eight years paid scanning experience.

Responsibilities

• Performs diagnostic ultrasounds and related modalities as required within department(s).
• Leads and mentors team; administrative time of 8 hours weekly.
• Ensures examinations are performed independently under physician supervision and peer collaboration.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Lead Sonographer performs diagnostic ultrasounds and other required modalities within individual department(s). Examinations are performed independently, under physician supervision, and with peer collaboration as is appropriate.

The Lead Sonographer effectively Leads/Manages team as the Lead in all work areas. The Lead Sonographer also helps to mentor and educate all levels of staff. The Lead Sonographer possesses the applicable credentials to the departmental role. Lead Sonographer fulfills the necessary and applicable time and experience requirements related to the position. The position is allotted a minimum of 8 hours a week administration time. Eligibility to remain as a lead sonographer is determined at a yearly evaluation based on fulfillment of job responsibilities throughout the prior year.

EDUCATION:

high school graduate or equivalent, graduate of a certified CAAHEP school of Diagnostic Medical Sonography OR Radiologic Technology preferred, or extensive on-the-job training. Must be certified by ARDMS in Abdomen, OB/GYN, and Vascular

EXPERIENCE:

Eight years paid scanning experience
