Job summary

UVM Health - UVM Medical Center seeks a Lead Sonographer to perform diagnostic ultrasounds across department modalities under physician supervision and lead the team in all work areas.

The role requires ARDMS certification in Abdomen, OB/GYN, and Vascular, as well as eight years of paid scanning experience and certification through a CAAHEP program or Radiologic Technology, with mentoring responsibilities and an annual evaluation guiding lead status.

Qualifications

• Eight years paid scanning experience.
• AR DMS certification in abdomen, OB/GYN, and vascular is required.
• Graduate of a CAAHEP program or Radiology Technology program with extensive on-the-job training may be acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the sonography team across departments.
• Mentor and educate all levels of staff.

Job Description

The Lead Sonographer performs diagnostic ultrasounds and other required modalities within individual department(s). Examinations are performed independently, under physician supervision, and with peer collaboration as is appropriate. The Lead Sonographer effectively Leads/Manages team as the Lead in all work areas. The Lead Sonographer also helps to mentor and educate all levels of staff. The Lead Sonographer possesses the applicable credentials to the departmental role. Lead Sonographer fulfills the necessary and applicable time and experience requirements related to the position. The position is allotted a minimum of 8 hours a week administration time. Eligibility to remain as a lead sonographer is determined at a yearly evaluation based on fulfillment of job responsibilities throughout the prior year.

Education

high school graduate or equivalent, graduate of a certified CAAHEP school of Diagnostic Medical Sonography OR Radiologic Technology preferred, or extensive on-the-job training. Must be certified by ARDMS in Abdomen, OB/GYN, and Vascular
