University of Vermont Medical Center in Burlington, VT invites a Senior Sonographer to join our patient-centered Ultrasound Team. You will perform routine and complex imaging using high-frequency sound waves, contribute to policy development, and mentor other Sonographers and students in a compassionate, learning-focused environment.

We seek candidates with ARDMS certification in two subspecialties (abdomen or Ob-Gyn preferred) and a minimum of three years of clinical ultrasound experience.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent; CAHEA/JRCT program completion.
• Three years of continuous ultrasound training in a clinical setting.
• ARDMS certification in two ultrasound subspecialties; abdomen or Ob-Gyn required.

Responsabilités

• Perform a wide range of routine and complex ultrasound examinations.
• Demonstrate advanced skills and mentor other sonographers and students.
• Contribute to policies, procedures, standards and quality assurance in Ultrasound.
• Assist the Sonographer Instructor in training Associate Sonographers as needed.
• Adjust equipment and optimize imaging to obtain diagnostic images.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Senior Sonographer performs a variety of routine and complex imaging procedures using high frequency sound waves.

Our Senior Sonographer on the Ultrasound Team:

• Demonstrates a higher level of commitment and advanced skills in the Ultrasound Division, possesses multiple certifications, and displays a commitment to sharing and teaching their skills to other Sonographers and students.

• Contributes to the development of policies, procedures, standards, objectives, and quality assurance needs of the Ultrasound Division.

• Clearly demonstrates flexibility and a commitment to enhancing the Ultrasound environment for patients, Sonographers and Radiologists.

• Performs a variety of routine and complex imaging procedures using high frequency sound waves.

• Must have at least two specialty certifications by the ARDMS (American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers) and will assist the Sonographer Instructor in training of Associate Sonographers as needed.

• Performs a wide variety of diagnostic ultrasound examinations and functions at an advanced level within the Ultrasound Division.

Since ultrasound can be degraded or blocked by various tissues and materials including lung, bowel gas and bone, obtaining a sonogram is a tailored examination requiring technical skill to adjust the machine, experience to find appropriate windows that can transmit an undistorted ultrasound beam, and diagnostic knowledge to obtain extra images customized to the diagnosis of concern and to abnormalities seen while obtaining the basic image set.

EDUCATION

• High school graduate or equivalent, graduate of an approved CAHEA/JRCT school of Radiologic Technology, or a two year allied health equivalent.

• Three years of continuous ultrasound training in a clinical setting.

• Certified ARDMS certification (registration) in two subspecialties of diagnostic ultrasound (not including physics which is required for the first certification). One of these certifications must be abdomen or Ob-Gyn.

EXPERIENCE

Three years of clinical experience in Diagnostic Ultrasound is required.

SIGN ON BONUS & RELOCATION ELIGIBLE

External candidates with two years experience who have not worked within the network in the past year are eligible for a hiring bonus of $10,000 when hired into a full-time position. Bonus will be prorated for part time positions.

• The bonus will be paid out as a $3,333.33 gross pay adjustment following the completion of a successful 90-day orientation; the second installment of $3,333.33 will be paid upon completion of one year (2,080 hours) of service in the department hired into, and the third installment of $3,333.34 upon completion of the second year of service.

• Amounts reflect gross pay, prior to applicable tax withholdings and deductions required by law.
