UVM Health is seeking a Lead Sonographer who performs diagnostic ultrasounds and related modalities, independently and under physician supervision. The role includes team leadership, mentoring staff, and ensuring credentialed proficiency across the department.

The position requires ARDMS certification in Abdomen, OB/GYN, and Vascular, with a strong background in ultrasound scanning and a track record of guiding clinical teams. On-site duties with ongoing evaluation to maintain lead status.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Lead Sonographer performs diagnostic ultrasounds and other required modalities within individual department(s). Examinations are performed independently, under physician supervision, and with peer collaboration as is appropriate.

The Lead Sonographer effectively Leads/Manages team as the Lead in all work areas. The Lead Sonographer also helps to mentor and educate all levels of staff. The Lead Sonographer possesses the applicable credentials to the departmental role. Lead Sonographer fulfills the necessary and applicable time and experience requirements related to the position. The position is allotted a minimum of 8 hours a week administration time. Eligibility to remain as a lead sonographer is determined at a yearly evaluation based on fulfillment of job responsibilities throughout the prior year.

EDUCATION:

high school graduate or equivalent, graduate of a certified CAAHEP school of Diagnostic Medical Sonography OR Radiologic Technology preferred, or extensive on-the-job training. Must be certified by ARDMS in Abdomen, OB/GYN, and Vascular
