Job summary

EPAM Systems Inc. seeks an experienced Solution Architect to lead a greenfield Commercial Lines insurance platform, focusing on a microservices-based architecture for underwriting, rating, policy administration, carrier management, and third-party integrations.

You will drive service decomposition, data ownership, and event-driven design while ensuring governance and compliance across teams. The role requires extensive P&C exposure, OpenAPI contract design, and hands-on architecture work with

Qualifications

8+ years solution/enterprise architecture experience, with at least one greenfield microservices platform shipped end-to-end.
P&C insurance domain experience, Commercial Lines preferred, with knowledge of account/policy/coverage hierarchies, rating engines and underwriting rules.
Event-driven architecture in production – Kafka or equivalent, domain event design, CQRS, eventual consistency trade-offs.
API design at the contract level – OpenAPI 3.1, versioning strategy, backward-compatibility across independently deployable services.
Data architecture for regulated, auditable financial transactions – immutable ledgers, effective dating, reconciliation jobs.

Responsibilities

Define service decomposition, bounded contexts, and data ownership per service.
Design the event-driven backbone and domain event models, schemas, versioning, and replay semantics.
Author OpenAPI 3.1 specifications for inter-service and external APIs before development begins.
Design the commercial insurance data model and ledger enabling full rating-factor-level reconstruction.
Enforce architectural separation between stateless rating service and rules service and define integration approaches for providers and gateways.
Drive non-functional requirements (sub-second rating, 99.9% uptime, RPO 15 minutes, RTO 4 hours) and governance standards.
Produce architecture artifacts: C4 diagrams, ADRs, API contracts, and data models.
