Wardstone is seeking an experienced engineer to own the solid rocket motor for two interceptor platforms. You will drive motor requirements from trajectory needs to design through ignition, including grain design, case, insulation, nozzle, and igniter, reporting to the CTO.

You will collaborate with GNC, aerodynamics, and avionics engineers to ensure performance, safety, and integration with the vehicle during storage and flight environments.

Qualificações

• B.S. in Aerospace, Mechanical or Chemical Engineering; MS preferred.
• 5+ years of solid rocket motor development experience.
• Experience taking a solid rocket motor from concept through static fire.

Responsabilidades

• Turn trajectory needs into motor requirements: total impulse, thrust profile, burn time, mass.
• Lead motor architecture & design: grain, case, insulation, liner, nozzle, igniter.
• Design propellant grains and run burnback analysis to shape thrust curve.
• Model internal ballistics, chamber pressure, heat transfer, nozzle erosion.
• Select propellant formulations, insulation, and nozzle materials; decide buy vs. in-house production.
• Design motor case with mechanical team: cover pressure loads & airframe attachment.
• Plan & run static fires, pressure tests, and temperature conditioning tests.
• Work with external test ranges; own safety procedures for energetic materials.
