Job summary

Wardstone in El Segundo, CA is seeking a propulsion engineer to design, build, and test solid rocket motor components for two interceptor platforms. You will own motor components and test campaigns from design through static fire, reporting to the Senior Propulsion Engineer.

You will collaborate with mechanical, avionics, GNC, and aerodynamics engineers, gaining hands-on experience with real motors and working across the full development cycle.

Qualifications

• BS in Aerospace, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering.
• 2+ years of propulsion hardware experience.
• Knowledge of internal ballistics, combustion, and heat transfer.
• Solid CAD skills with drawings and assemblies.
• Hands-on test experience with instrumentation.

Responsibilities

• Design motor components such as nozzles, igniters, and closures.
• Build CAD models and fabrication drawings.
• Run internal ballistics, thermal, and structural analyses.
• Prepare for and run static fires and pressure tests.
• Design and build test fixtures and instrumentation.
• Collect and analyze data, compare to predictions.
• Coordinate with vendors and machine shops.
