Job summary

GCI Incorporated in the United States is seeking a Software Developer Principal to lead the design and development of complex software systems and enhancements. The role requires hands-on leadership, experience building scalable platforms, and guiding development activities across data processing, messaging, and hardware interfaces.

A candidate should have strong technical expertise across multiple systems, excellent communication, and the ability to supervise junior staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering or related technical discipline.
• 5 to 15 years of related software engineering experience.
• Demonstrated experience programming with C, C++, and Python.
• Experience with Linux operating system details and shell scripting.
• Experience with Java, JavaScript and/or other scripting skills.
• Analytical mindset and good problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication and attention to detail.
• Implement and design test plans at system level.
• Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
• Strong experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).
• Security + certification or ability to acquire.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of complex software systems and significant enhancements to existing software.
• Develop scalable platforms and oversee software development activities, data processing, and messaging.
• Provide supervision to junior engineers and coordinate maintenance actions.
