The role is based in New York City with a hybrid model (2-3 days onsite). Compensation includes base salary, bonus, and equity, plus comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience with leadership responsibility.
• Strong full-stack experience with Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, and React.
• Experience building and scaling SaaS applications in production.

Our client is seeking a Lead Software Engineer (Python/React/AI Applications) to help drive the architecture, development, and scalability of a suite of AI-powered SaaS products within a growing technology organization.

This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who enjoys balancing technical strategy, software architecture, and people leadership while remaining actively involved in development. The ideal candidate will bring deep experience across Python, React, AWS, and modern AI application development, along with the ability to mentor engineers, influence technical direction, and build scalable products in a fast-paced environment. Experience building LLM-powered applications, AI agents, and agentic workflows is highly preferred.

Job Title: Lead Software Engineer (Python/React/AI Applications)

Compensation:$140,000 - $160,000 Base Salary + Bonus + Equity

Location: New York City (Hybrid, 2-3 Days Onsite per Week)

Required Skills & Experience

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, including experience in a technical leadership or lead engineer capacity.
• Strong full-stack development experience with Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, and React.
• Experience building and scaling SaaS applications in production environments.
• Hands-on experience developing AI-enabled products and applications, including agent-based or LLM-powered solutions.
• Experience with AI frameworks and tooling such as LangChain, LangGraph, LangFuse, OpenAI SDKs, or similar technologies.
• Strong understanding of AI application architecture, prompt engineering, retrieval workflows, and context management.
• Experience with AWS cloud services, serverless technologies, and modern cloud-native application design.
• Experience with PostgreSQL or similar relational databases.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with engineering, product, and business stakeholders.
• Experience mentoring engineers, leading technical projects, and driving engineering best practices.
• Experience working within Agile software development environments.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience building AI applications leveraging text, voice, audio, or other multimodal capabilities.
• Experience designing and implementing agentic systems integrated into customer-facing products.
• Experience scaling cloud-native SaaS platforms within startup or high-growth environments.
• Familiarity with serverless architectures and distributed systems design.
• Prior experience leading small engineering teams while remaining hands-on with software development.
