Job summary

Nucor's Vulcraft Nebraska division seeks a Lead Software Engineer to guide development of next-generation manufacturing systems. Based in Norfolk, NE or Chemung, NY, you will lead a team connecting software to shop-floor equipment and automation platforms.

You will mentor engineers, architect enterprise apps in C#/.NET, and drive OT/IT integrations across MES, ERP, and cloud services, while advancing DevOps and secure coding practices.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience leading technical teams or software projects.
• 7+ years of professional software development experience.
• Must be able to work from the designated office location in Norfolk, NE or Chemung, NY.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of software engineers in the design, development, and support of production software systems.
• Mentor teammates through code reviews, architecture discussions, and technical coaching.
• Architect and develop enterprise and manufacturing applications using C# and .NET technologies.
• Design solutions that interface with PLCs, sensors, cameras, HMIs, and production equipment.
• Develop and support solutions utilizing Ignition and/or Litmus platforms.
• Build integrations between OT and IT systems including MES, SQL databases, ERP platforms, and cloud-based applications.
• Collaborate with production, controls, automation, and business teams to identify and deliver high-value solutions.
• Drive best practices for software architecture, testing, security, and DevOps.
• Lead technical research, proof-of-concepts, vendor evaluations, and implementation efforts.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives through manufacturing data collection, visualization, and analytics.
