Job summary

Nucor is seeking a Lead Software Engineer to guide the development of next-generation manufacturing and production systems. Location options include Norfolk, NE or Chemung, NY, with travel for user meetings and training.

The role focuses on connecting software with shop-floor devices, PLCs, and MES/ERP integrations, leveraging C#/.NET and Ignition or Litmus platforms for enterprise systems.

Qualifications

• 3+ years leading technical teams or software projects.
• 7+ years software development experience in a manufacturing/industrial setting.
• Willingness to travel infrequently for meetings and training.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of software engineers in design, development, and support of production software systems.
• Mentor teammates through code reviews, architecture discussions, and technical coaching.
• Architect and develop enterprise/manufacturing applications using C# and .NET tech.
• Design solutions interfacing with PLCs, sensors, cameras, HMIs, and production equipment.
• Develop and support Ignition and/or Litmus platform integrations.
• Build integrations between OT and IT systems (MES, ERP, SQL databases, cloud apps).
• Collaborate with production, controls, automation, and business teams to deliver high-value solutions.
• Drive best practices for software architecture, testing, security, and DevOps.
• Lead technical research, PoCs, vendor evaluations, and implementation efforts.
• Support continuous improvement via manufacturing data collection, visualization, and analytics.
