Job summary

Nucor Business Technology (NBT) is building the next generation of manufacturing software for Nucor's steel operations, and we are seeking a Software Architect to set the technical direction for design, build, and delivery. This hands-on role requires ownership of solution design, architecture, and end-to-end development, and you will lead the architecture of MES and its integration with the ERP landscape.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
• 6+ years building and shipping production software with architecture/technical-leadership responsibility
• Proficiency in Python, C#, or TypeScript/JavaScript with breadth across multiple languages
• Proven experience in distributed systems, API design, data modeling, and build-vs-buy decisions
• Strong hands-on AI/LLM capability and experience with AI-native engineering practices

Responsibilities

• Own solution architecture and end-to-end software development for MES modernization
• Define patterns, standards, and guardrails for enterprise-grade software
• Lead integration across MES, ERP, and data platforms and champion AI-native development
