Job summary

Labcorp in Durham, NC seeks a Lead Software Development Engineer to design, develop, and support mission-critical LIMS applications. This senior role combines technical leadership with hands-on software delivery in a hybrid, 3-in-office per week schedule.

The position requires 7+ years in .NET, API/microservices, Docker/Kubernetes, cloud-native apps, and SQL Server, plus experience with Kafka/MQ and IT collaboration. Regular business hours with potential after-hours for production needs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree required.
• 7+ years with .NET technologies including .NET Core, ASP.NET, MVC, WCF, EF or ORM tools.
• 7+ years in database design and SQL Server or similar RDBMS.
• 7+ years in API development and microservices, Docker, Kubernetes, cloud-native apps.
• 7+ years distributed app design using Kafka/MQ/RabbitMQ or similar tech.

Responsibilities

• Design and document technical and functional specifications.
• Develop, test, and integrate high-quality software per engineering standards.
• Review and refactor code for performance and scalability.
• Analyze and enhance existing applications to meet business needs.
• Support migration from legacy systems to modern platforms.
• Serve as SME for Virtual LIMS.
• Provide Tier-3 production support and occasional after-hours support.
• Adhere to enterprise development standards and best practices.
• Learn lab operations and clinical workflows to support design and functionality.
• Mentor junior engineers and coordinate with vendors and cross-functional teams.
