Job summary

Salesforce is seeking a Lead Software Engineer to design and build scalable distributed file system components for a cloud-based SaaS platform used by millions. You will write production-ready code, participate in architecture decisions, and guide a scrum team through design reviews and mentoring.

You will lead efforts to ensure reliability, performance, and scalability, with on-call rotations and cross-functional collaboration to deliver strategic roadmaps.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of software development experience.
• Deep knowledge of designing distributed file systems (on-premises and cloud).
• Proficiency in Java and Python with SQL and both relational and non-relational databases.
• Experience developing SaaS products on public cloud (AWS/Azure/GCP).
• Experience designing distributed systems at scale with queues, locks, scheduling, event-driven architecture, and workload distribution.
• Understanding of software development best practices and ability to demonstrate leadership.

Required Skills

• Extensive experience in systems design and programming languages; 12+ years of software development experience.
• Deep knowledge of designing distributed file systems (on-premises and cloud).
• Strong object-oriented programming and scripting knowledge (e.g., Java, Python) with SQL proficiency and experience with relational and non-relational databases.
• Experience developing SaaS products on public cloud infrastructure (AWS/Azure/GCP).
• Proven experience designing and developing distributed systems at scale; proficiency with queues, locks, scheduling, event-driven architecture, and workload distribution; strong understanding of relational and non-relational databases.
• Understanding of software development best practices and ability to demonstrate leadership skills.

Preferred Skills

• Design patterns, Big Data/ML experience, and S3; hands-on experience with streaming technologies (e.g., Kafka) and Elasticsearch.
• Experience with Terraform, Kubernetes, Docker.
• Experience working in a high-paced, rapidly growing multinational organization.
