Job summary

JPMorganChase in Columbus, OH is seeking a Lead Software Engineer to guide an agile team building the NextGen orchestration platform using AI capabilities in Java and AWS. You will lead talents to deliver secure, scalable software and oversee architecture for complex systems.

Job description

Be an integral part of an agile team that constantly pushes the envelope to enhance, build, and deliver top‑notch technology products.

As a Lead Software Engineer at JPMorganChase within the CONSUMER & COMMUNITY BANKING Fraud Technology team, you will lead talented individuals to build the NextGen orchestration platform using advanced AI capabilities in Java & AWS.

Responsibilities
  • Execute software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting, with the ability to think beyond routine approaches to build solutions or break down technical problems.
  • Create secure and high‑quality production code and maintain algorithms that run synchronously with appropriate systems.
  • Produce architecture and design artifacts for complex applications while ensuring design constraints are met by software code development.
  • Gather, analyze, synthesize, and develop visualizations and reporting from large, diverse data sets to continuously improve software applications and systems.
  • Proactively identify hidden problems and patterns in data and use these insights to drive improvements to coding hygiene and system architecture.
  • Contribute to software engineering communities of practice and events that explore new and emerging technologies.
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
  • Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts and 5+ years of applied experience in software development.
  • 8+ years of experience designing, developing, debugging, and maintaining applications in a large corporate environment.
  • Hands‑on practical experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability.
  • Hands‑on experience building AI Agents and leveraging AI‑powered tools, RAG pipelines, and LLM APIs.
  • Proficiency in coding in one or more programming language(s): Java.
  • Advanced knowledge of software applications and technical processes with considerable in‑depth knowledge in one or more technical disciplines such as cloud, artificial intelligence, machine learning, mobile, etc.
  • Strong hands‑on experience with Java, Spring, and Spring Boot.
  • Experience designing and implementing REST APIs.
  • Strong AWS experience, including ECS and Lambda.
  • Strong AWS networking and core services knowledge (ALB, NLB, GWLB, VPC, subnets, security groups, IAM, CloudWatch).
  • Good understanding of agile methodologies, CI/CD, application resiliency, and security for internet‑facing APIs (OAuth 2.0/OIDC, JWT, TLS/mTLS, rate limiting).
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
  • Familiarity with middleware technologies.
  • Hands‑on AWS services experience with ECS, Lambda, Aurora Postgres.
  • Exposure to cloud technologies.
  • Cloud certification.
  • Anthropic Claude Code experience.
