Job summary

UKG is seeking a Lead Software Development Engineer to elevate quality engineering within the Shared Services team. You will design scalable automation, implement modern DevOps practices, and partner with product teams to boost test coverage, reliability, and delivery speed.

The ideal candidate mentors others, builds reusable solutions, and applies AI-assisted development tools to improve productivity while ensuring governance and security in AI-generated code.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in software engineering, quality engineering, DevOps, or related field.
• Strong programming proficiency in TypeScript, JavaScript, Python, Java, or C#.
• Hands-on experience with Playwright or Selenium and multiple test types.
• Experience with CI/CD platforms and Git tools; cloud and container technologies.
• Hands-on use of Claude Code, Codex, or similar AI coding assistants.
• Ability to govern AI-generated code and autonomous workflows.

Responsibilities

• Design and build scalable automation frameworks and reusable engineering patterns.
• Develop capabilities for browser, API, integration, contract, and end-to-end testing.
• Define automation standards for architecture, quality, and maintainability.
• Integrate quality checks and gates into CI/CD pipelines with fast feedback.
• Build observability into automation platforms with logs, metrics, and dashboards.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve delivery quality and reduce duplication.
• Mentor engineers and testers in automation, DevOps, and AI-enhanced engineering.
