Product Engineering

Product Engineering is responsible for engineering Disney Entertainment & ESPN digital and streaming products and platforms, including media engineering, quality assurance, personalization, commerce, lifecycle, and identity.

About the role:

This is a hands-on engineering position developing mobile applications for ESPN within the Android Ecosystem using Java/Kotlin. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to conceptualize and develop Disney apps, manage project priorities, and design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain software solutions. You may lead others to solve complex problems and provide oversight to other engineers.

Responsibilities:
  • Technical Expertise: Manage project priorities, design, develop, test, deploy, and enhance software solutions.
  • Collaborative Development: Work with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless feature integration and delivery.
  • Leadership and Mentorship: Lead and mentor engineers, guiding technical excellence.
Basic Qualifications:
  • 7+ years of Android development experience.
  • Expertise in object-oriented, functional, and reactive patterns.
  • Experience with Android app lifecycle, Google Play, and Amazon App Store policies.
  • Experience working on a significant consumer app.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to facilitate cross-team knowledge sharing.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Understanding of HTTP/S, APIs, web services.
  • Experience with JUnit, MockK, Espresso, CI systems.
  • Strong foundation in multi-threaded mobile apps.
  • Self-motivated, adaptable, collaborative, and skilled in writing efficient, reliable code.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and optimize application performance.
  • Leadership experience in project teams.
Required Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or equivalent experience.
