Job summary

Tokio Marine Highland is seeking a hands-on Lead Data Engineer to design, develop, and evolve our enterprise Snowflake platform, leading a small team and shaping data engineering standards.

Location: Chicago, IL with a hybrid schedule (2-3 days in the office); remote options considered for exceptional candidates across the US. You will drive scalable data pipelines, data models, and cloud-native solutions aligned with business needs.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience designing, implementing, and optimizing enterprise Snowflake platforms.
• Strong proficiency in SQL, Python, dbt, AWS, and data modeling for data warehouses.
• Experience modernizing fragmented data ecosystems with cloud-native solutions.
• Experience establishing engineering standards, CI/CD, automated testing, and infrastructure as code.
• Experience leading technical initiatives and coaching teams while remaining hands-on in delivery.
• Insurance data domain experience (policy, underwriting, claims, billing, finance) is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, and ongoing evolution of TMH's enterprise Snowflake platform.
• Design scalable data pipelines, data models, and reusable frameworks for reporting and analytics.
• Establish engineering standards for data quality, governance, testing, deployment, and performance.
• Modernize legacy data environments with scalable cloud-native data engineering solutions.
• Partner with technology and business stakeholders to deliver trusted, enterprise data solutions.
• Lead, coach, and develop a small data engineering team while contributing hands-on to architecture and delivery.
