Job summary

Zelis is modernizing the healthcare financial experience. The Senior Data Engineer will lead data engineering workstreams for Payment Operations, designing and maintaining Snowflake pipelines, activating monitoring scenarios, and delivering KPI infrastructure for executive reporting across platforms.

As the Snowflake SME, you will guide data literacy, document architecture, and provide technical leadership to onshore/offshore teams, enabling broader operations to use data more independently.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a technical field or equivalent experience.
• 7 years in data engineering with 3+ years in production Snowflake environments.
• Expert SQL with recursive CTEs, stored procedures, and tuning for large datasets.
• Hands-on Snowflake-native patterns: Snowpipe, streams and tasks, clustering, virtual warehouses.
• Rapidly absorbing unfamiliar data architectures and mapping data flows.
• Experience building/monitoring production data pipelines and data quality controls.
• Experience with Automic, Airflow, or dbt Cloud for batch workloads.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, deploy, and maintain Snowflake tables and pipelines for payment monitoring.
• Activate monitoring scenarios in sequenced sprints based on cost, risk and revenue exposure.
• Design and maintain the Payment Lifecycle KPI pipeline with cross-table joins and automated refresh.
• Establish data quality controls including forward-fill logic and validation checks.
• Lead Snowflake enablement sessions and promote maintainable engineering practices.
• Document the Payment Operations data architecture, schemas, data flows, and runbooks.
• Translate monitoring needs into scalable technical solutions and communicate findings to leadership.
