Utz is a historic, iconic snacks company based in Hanover, PA, seeking a Sr. Food Scientist to lead new product development from concept through commercialization.

You will collaborate with manufacturing, procurement, packaging, sales, marketing, and consumer insights to deliver innovative snack offerings. The role emphasizes applying scientific and engineering principles to formulating and scaling products, evaluating ingredients, and ensuring safety and quality across projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in food science, chemistry, chemical engineering or equivalent.
• 3–5 years of food product development experience in snacks or related field.
• Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams (manufacturing, procurement, marketing).

Responsibilities

• Designs, conducts and reviews experiments to deliver new products and support value creation.
• Evaluates ingredient efficacy, claims and safety.
• Runs pilot scale equipment and plant trials from planning to scale-up.
• Writes detailed reports for analyses, experiments and projects.
• Ensures quality and food safety tasks are completed.
• Scouts new technologies and partners to drive business needs.
