Job summary

Sanmina Corporation in Fremont, California, is seeking an SMT Lead Assembler to oversee surface mount technology production lines, ensure high-quality PCB assembly, and train operators. The role focuses on machine setup (pick-and-place, reflow), process checks, and maintaining IPC standards in a fast-paced environment.

The ideal candidate has 3–5 years of SMT assembly experience, strong leadership, and the ability to interpret schematics.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• 3–5 years SMT assembly experience, preferably in a lead or senior role.
• Proficiency with soldering (IPC-J-STD-001) and interpreting schematics/engineering drawings.
• Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving abilities.
• Familiarity with MS Office, MES systems (e.g., Factory Logix), and, in some cases, specific machines like Europlacer.
• Must be able to verbally communicate.

Responsibilities

• Supervise SMT operators, assign tasks, and monitor line efficiency to meet daily/weekly goals.
• Set up and operate screen printers, pick-and-place machines, and reflow ovens.
• Inspect PCBs to IPC-A-610 standards, identify defects, and perform necessary rework.
• Program machinery, troubleshoots equipment issues, and performs basic maintenance.
• Train new employees on assembly techniques and promote adherence to safety protocols.
