Job summary

Joe Johnson Equipment (JJE), operating as Standard Equipment in Elmhurst, IL, seeks a Shop Foreman to oversee daily shop workflow, assign work, mentor technicians, and ensure safe, high-quality repairs. This leadership role collaborates across Service, Parts, and Operations to optimize performance and customer satisfaction.

The position requires 3–5 years in heavy equipment or related service, strong communication, and the ability to manage priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of experience in heavy equipment, construction or automotive service environments.
• Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office and Work Order systems.
• Mechanical aptitude or prior exposure to heavy equipment.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and prioritize daily shop activities based on technician skill level, workload, and repair urgency.
• Monitor work order progress and adjust schedules for efficient turnaround and minimal downtime.
• Track shop productivity and labor utilization, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency.
• Collaborate with Service Advisors, Parts, and Operations to maintain smooth workflow and remove bottlenecks.
• Lead, coach, and support technicians and apprentices to promote productivity and quality.
• Provide technical guidance on diagnostics, repair processes, and best practices.
• Support onboarding, training, and skill development within the team.
• Foster a culture of safety, efficiency, quality workmanship, and customer satisfaction.
