Job summary

VOALA is seeking a Lead Monitor I to oversee shelter security operations, supervise monitors, and provide safety training across shifts in our Los Angeles program. This on-site role coordinates schedules and enforces safety protocols for clients and staff.

Responsibilities include leading safety leadership, monitoring entrance and bag checks, patrolling the premises, and driving for licensed monitors as needed, with a strong commitment to serving vulnerable populations.

Qualifications

• Must be able to pass a fingerprint clearance and background checks.
• One year of security or related human services experience preferred.
• Valid California driver’s license and clean driving record encouraged.

Responsibilities

• Assign shifts, supervise Monitors and plan coverage around the clock.
• Train Monitors on safety, security expectations and procedures.
• Oversee safety practices and provide ongoing safety leadership.
• Monitor shelter entrance, screen bags and persons, and patrol premises.
• Support client/participant activities and drive when licensed.
