Job summary

Textron Aviation in Orlando, FL is seeking a Lead Sheet Metal Technician to fabricate, assemble and repair precision sheet metal components for general aviation aircraft. You’ll work hands-on with cutting, forming, drilling, riveting and finishing to ensure flight readiness.

You must have a high school diploma, at least 2 years of diversified aviation sheet metal experience, familiarity with FAA standards, corrosion control and surface prep.

Qualifications

  • A high school diploma, an equivalent certificate, or bronze level WorkKeys certification is required.
  • A minimum 2 years of diversified aviation sheet metal experience is required.
  • Working knowledge of aircraft structural repair manuals and FAA standards is expected.
  • Ability to identify corrosion types and perform approved corrosion removal procedures.
  • Experience applying and removing protective coatings and working with aircraft rivets and fasteners.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret blueprints, drawings, and verbal instructions to plan scope and materials.
  • Lay out, bend, and form sheet metal parts to exact fit and function.
  • Drill, deburr, countersink, and dimpling for high-quality fastener installation.
  • Install solid and blind rivets using rivet guns and specialty tools.
  • Remove rivets and components for modifications or repairs as needed.
  • Work to airworthiness, safety, and reliability standards.
