Job description

  • Melbourne, FL - Hybrid (Remote and In Person)

At Avidyne, safety is not just a priority — it is the foundation of everything we do.

We're looking for an experienced avionics technician who will step into a senior field-service role, serving as the go-to technical authority for our most complex installations, escalations, and customer relationships.

WHAT YOU'LL OWN

At Avidyne, you'll serve as the primary technical authority for complex avionics installations, troubleshooting, and customer support across our field service operations. You'll independently diagnose and resolve system failures and integration issues across our full product portfolio; flight management systems, displays, GPS navigators, and autopilots; leading root-cause analysis and corrective action on the toughest escalated issues.

You'll execute complex installations and upgrades at customer sites, dealer facilities, and OEM production lines with full technical autonomy, conducting post-installation flight testing and validation to confirm compliance with regulatory requirements and customer specifications. Beyond your own hands-on work, you'll mentor and train Service Engineers at every level, review and approve work on complex installations, and serve as the on-site technical lead for multi-engineer projects and customer training events.

You'll also help build the systems behind the work: developing installation standards, service bulletins, and technical documentation, driving continuous improvement in service delivery, and partnering with engineering to turn recurring field issues into design and process improvements. And you'll be a visible technical face of Avidyne — serving as primary liaison for key accounts and dealers, training customers and installation shops on our systems, and representing Avidyne at industry events as a subject matter expert.

WHY AVIDYNE

At Avidyne, our culture is grounded in the philosophy of Simply Flying: a focus on creating practical, effective solutions that make a real impact.

We’re looking for dedicated professionals who never settle for good enough. People who bring precision to every installation and pursue smarter, safer solutions because every flight depends on it.

Individuals passionate about aviation's future drive innovation here. Your hands-on expertise and the team members you mentor will help develop safer, smarter solutions; your work will truly make an impact.

WHAT YOU NEED
  • At least 10 years of relevant experience leading avionics installation and troubleshooting operations.
  • Certification or degree in a related technical field preferred.
  • Working knowledge of general aviation avionics architecture, including flight management systems, integrated flight displays, GPS navigation, autopilots, and communication systems.
  • Working knowledge of TSO standards, FAA regulations governing avionics installations, and aircraft certification requirements under Part 23 and Part 43.
  • Skill in reading avionics wiring diagrams, installation drawings, interface control documents, and aircraft maintenance manuals, and in using test equipment such as multimeters and oscilloscopes to validate system performance.
  • Ability to mentor engineers at varying skill levels, lead cross-functional teams during installations, and communicate complex technical information clearly to customers, dealers, and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to travel to customer sites nationwide and work in challenging physical environments, including small aircraft cockpits and confined spaces.
HELPFUL TO HAVE
  • Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) certificate with Inspection Authorization (IA).
  • Private Pilot certificate or higher with instrument rating.
  • Experience leading Avidyne avionics installations.
  • Experience with competitive avionics platforms from Garmin, Honeywell, or Collins Aerospace to support comparative analysis and customer consultation.
  • Experience working with FAA Designated Engineering Representatives (DERs) or participating in supplemental type certificate (STC) development activities.
  • Experience supporting OEM production line installations or as a factory liaison engineer.
  • Familiarity with specific aircraft types common in general aviation, including Cirrus, Piper, Cessna, Beechcraft, and Mooney platforms.
  • Experience with CAN bus protocols, ARINC 429 data bus architecture, or RS-232/RS-422 serial communication standards.
  • Background in electronics repair, component-level troubleshooting, or avionics bench repair.
  • Certification in IPC-620 cable and wire harness assembly standards.
PAY & BENEFITS
