Job summary

NORLEE INVESTMENTS LLC is seeking a Lead Service Technician to inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical systems in the field. You will respond to service requests, perform routine and emergency repairs, and support equipment upgrades, while keeping customers informed with clear explanations.

The role requires reading schematics and documenting work orders; travel to multiple job sites; and maintaining NEC compliance. Night shifts may be required.

Qualifications

  • Minimum three years combined experience in residential, commercial, and repair work; completion of an electrical apprenticeship preferred.
  • Capable of troubleshooting electrical systems and equipment, diagnosing issues, and performing effective repairs.
  • Experience communicating with customers—explaining technical issues and repair options clearly.
  • Familiarity with electronic work order systems for documenting job details, parts, and labor.

Job description

Position Summary

The Lead Service Technician is responsible for inspecting, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical systems and equipment in the field. This role responds to service requests, performs routine and emergency repairs, supports equipment upgrades, and identifies and reports potential system design issues to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient equipment operation.


Must be flexible to work some night shifts as needed.



Essential Duties and Responsibilities


  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair electrical systems and equipment in the field.

  • Respond to service calls, including emergency and on-call requests, in a fast-paced environment.

  • Perform routine maintenance, equipment upgrades, and corrective repairs.

  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, specifications, and technical documents.

  • Accurately document service activities, materials, training, and expenses using electronic work order systems.

  • Complete and close out electronic work orders in a timely and accurate manner, ensuring all job details, parts used, and labor hours are properly recorded.

  • Maintain clear communication with the department manager regarding field activities and service issues.

  • Communicate directly and professionally with customers to explain diagnoses, repair options, and completed work in clear, understandable terms.

  • Educate customers on equipment operation, electrical system maintenance, and safety practices.

  • Identify and report potential electrical system design or performance issues.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of three years of combined experience in residential, commercial, and repair work, or possess equivalent relevant experience. Completion of an accredited electrical apprenticeship program is preferred. Candidates should have demonstrated experience troubleshooting electrical systems and equipment, diagnosing issues efficiently, and implementing effective repairs. Prior experience communicating directly with customers — explaining technical issues, repair options, and job outcomes in a clear and professional manner — is highly valued. Familiarity with electronic work order systems for documenting job details, parts, and labor is also preferred. Candidates must be capable of managing multiple tasks efficiently, including handling materials and organizing job site needs. A valid, clean driver's license is essential for travel to various job sites. Strong written and verbal communication skills are required, along with proven experience using hand and power tools, soldering equipment, and fault-testing instruments. A solid understanding of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and applicable building codes is also necessary for success in this role.



Language/Interpersonal/Leadership Skills

The successful candidate must possess strong verbal and written communication skills. They should be able to express ideas clearly and concisely, both in person and in writing, and be skilled at listening to and addressing the needs of end users, including customers on-site. The ability to read and interpret technical documents, such as operating instructions, safety rules, and procedure manuals, is also essential.



Mathematical Skills

Basic mathematical skills, including the ability to perform addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division with whole numbers, fractions, and decimals, are essential for the role.



Computer Skills

This position does not require advanced computer skills. However, familiarity with basic mobile apps, time entry systems, and electronic work order platforms is beneficial. Service Technicians may be required to use tablets or smartphones to clock in and out, access job site details, complete electronic work orders, or review project documentation.
