Job summary

Axelon Services Corporation in Menasha, WI is seeking a Senior Server Computing and Virtualization Engineer to join a hybrid work team.

You will lead architecture, lifecycle management, and operation of a large-scale VMware-based compute environment, drive automation with Ansible, Terraform, PowerCLI, and scripting, and collaborate with storage, networking, security, and apps teams to ensure uptime and performance.

Qualifications

• Five or more years of experience in the field or related area.

Responsibilities

• Lead architecture, implementation, lifecycle, and operation of the large enterprise compute environment.
• Manage server hardware standards, platform design, firmware strategy, host lifecycle management, and infrastructure refresh planning.
• Oversee the health, performance, availability, and capacity of virtualization environments, including hypervisor hosts, management platforms, clusters, DR/configs.
• Design and maintain resilient compute and virtualization solutions that support mission-critical workloads with uptime focus.
• Partner with storage, networking, backup, security, and application teams to ensure end-to-end performance and reliability.
• Serve as a senior escalation point for complex server hardware and virtualization incidents, leading root-cause analysis and restoration.
• Architect and maintain automated workflows using Ansible, Terraform, PowerCLI, and scripting languages such as PowerShell or Python.
• Maintain and enhance platform visibility through enterprise monitoring tools like VMware Aria Operations and Grafana.
