Job summary

Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory in New York is hiring for the seasonal Lead Catering Server in the Culinary Services department. You will set up dining rooms and outdoor events, serve meals, and ensure guest satisfaction during meetings, courses, and events.

Candidates should have a high school diploma (or equivalent) and catering experience is preferred; Spanish is a plus. Must be able to stand long hours and lift items.

Qualifications

Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, a world-renowned scientific research organization located on the North Shore of Long Island, is hiringcandidates to fill the seasonal position of Lead Catering Server in the Culinary Services department. Qualified candidates will serve food and beverages for meetings, courses, and administrative, and communications-related events.

Position Responsibilities

• Setting up dining room(s) and outdoor events with required linen, tableware, and dishware
• Anticipating guest needs and monitoring their dining experience to ensure satisfaction with the meal and service
• Serving and clearing food and beverages in a sanitary manner
• Providing service in a courteous and polite manner
• Ensuring that all cleaning duties are accomplished for each event

Position Requirements

Education

High School diploma or equivalent is preferred.

Experience

Some catering experience is preferred. The ability to speak Spanish is a plus.

Physical

Must be able to stand for long periods of time, bend, stretch, and lift items such as boxes and trays of food or drinks.

Environmental

Must be comfortable working with others in social settings.
