Job summary

Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory is seeking a Catering Services Food Handler to join our General Dining Services team in New York. The role involves preparing and serving food for daily dining, special events, and other food service functions.

The position requires a High School diploma or equivalent and up to 1 year of commercial food handling experience. Proficiency with Outlook, Excel, and POS systems is preferred, with potential sanitation certification advantageous.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• 1 year experience in commercial food handling preferred.
• Certificate in sanitation is advantageous.
• Spanish language ability is a plus.
• Experience with POS systems is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Preparing and serving food for catering & events services
• Maintaining and stocking service lines, beverage stations, and refrigerated areas
• Follow proper sanitation and food handling procedures
• Train, instruct, and supervise seasonal staff as required
• Operate cash register for general dining food lines
• Provide job assignment status feedback to the Supervisor of General Dining Services
• Interact in a courteous manner with clientele, fellow employees, and other supervisors
• Provide inventory and product usage information to the General Dining Services Supervisor
• Collect weekly cash receipts and maintain the Point of Sale bank
