Job Description Summary
The Special Programs Lead Security Specialist is responsible for overseeing and implementing security measures for classified programs, ensuring compliance with ICD 705 standards and TEMPEST requirements. This role involves managing upgrades and future classified builds, coordinating with cross-functional teams, and ensuring the highest levels of security and operational integrity. The specialist will play a critical role in safeguarding sensitive information and maintaining adherence to government and industry regulations.

Job Description
The role involves overseeing security initiatives for classified programs, including facility upgrades and new builds. This full-time role requires expertise in ICD 705 standards, TEMPEST requirements, and risk mitigation strategies. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate security measures into project plans and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. Your work will be critical to protecting classified information and supporting GE Aerospace’s mission.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Lead security initiatives for classified programs, including facility upgrades and new builds.
  2. Ensure compliance with ICD 705 standards and TEMPEST requirements.
  3. Collaborate with engineering, operations, and program teams to integrate security measures into project plans.
  4. Conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies to protect classified information.
  5. Maintain documentation and reporting in accordance with regulatory requirements.
  6. Provide training and guidance to team members on security protocols and best practices.

The Ideal Candidate Has

  • Risk Assessment and Business Acumen: The ability to identify, evaluate, and prioritize potential threats and vulnerabilities, and to develop strategies to mitigate these risks. Understand the internal and external factors that impact the organization including market trends, competitive landscape and regulatory requirements.
  • Information & Analytical Thinking: The ability to collect, analyze and interpret information from various sources to anticipate and counteract potential security threats, while thinking critically and analytically to solve complex security problems and make informed decisions.
  • Adaptability and Resilience: The capacity to adapt to changing security landscapes and recover quickly from setbacks or incidents.
  • Interpersonal Skills & Customer Service: Strong interpersonal abilities, effective networking and collaboration capabilities, and cultural competence. High emotional intelligence and self-awareness are essential for fostering a respectful approach to security operations.
  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively convey security policies, procedures, and incident reports to stakeholders at all levels. Active listening & relationship building.
  • Project Management: The ability to plan, execute, and oversee security projects, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma/GED with at least 4 years of relative experience).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Expertise in ICD 705 and TEMPEST standards.
  • Strong leadership and project management skills.
  • Experience in classified program security and facility management.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-security environment.

  • Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40
  • Background and drug screening required.
  • Physical requirements: Ability to work in a secure environment and meet physical demands as needed.
  • Environmental notes: Work may involve exposure to secure technical environments.
