Job description

Akima Systems Engineering (ASE) is seeking a Lead Security Installation Specialist to join our team of professionals installing Electronic and Technical Security Systems for the Western Area Power Administration (WAPA) Rocky Mountain (RMR) Regions. These regions require upgrades to the Physical Access Control System (PACS) at electrical substations, switchyards, and facilities throughout.

Locations: DSW Region: Colorado, Nebraska, Wyoming.

Travel Requirements: Varies, with approximately 90% travel expected.

Responsibilities
  1. Serve as a primary leader for project execution, develop project schedules, and ensure timely completion.
  2. Assist in managing scope of work, procurement, quality of project materials, vendors, and subcontractors.
  3. Work independently and lead small installation teams.
  4. Install Electronic and Technical Security Systems adhering to DoD and DoS guidelines.
  5. Interpret and draw electrical, electronic, and electro-mechanical schematics.
  6. Use test equipment such as multimeters and cable testers (e.g., Fluke, Klein, Ideal).
  7. Follow wiring guidelines and interpret building plans and blueprints.
  8. Understand and apply NEC requirements and electrical safety practices.
  9. Perform maintenance, installation, troubleshooting, and testing of security wiring and power circuits.
  10. Have working knowledge of systems including DoD and DoS Security Systems, Access Control, Intrusion Detection, IP CCTV, and mechanical locking systems.
Qualifications
  1. U.S. Citizen with a current Passport and valid Driver’s License.
  2. High School diploma or equivalent, or military electronic/communication training.
  3. Ability to obtain Public Trust Clearance.
  4. At least 5 years of technical experience with electronics/electrical systems installation, in lieu of military training.
  5. Experience with Intrusion Detection, Access Control, Video Surveillance, Intercom, and Low Voltage Electrical Systems.
  6. Proficiency with test equipment and documentation.
  7. Ability to work under deadlines, detail-oriented, and self-motivated.
  8. Strong communication skills and ability to work independently.
  9. Skill in installing, testing, troubleshooting security systems, and reading schematics/manuals.
  10. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat.
  11. Travel requirement of 95% or more.
Desired Qualifications
  • Lenel Certification.
  • Five years of experience with Lenel hardware/software, intrusion detection, IP video surveillance, and other security systems.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat (preferred).
  • Manufacturer’s certification or technical training (preferred).
Physical Demands
  • Ability to reach, climb, and kneel up to 75% of the time.
  • Repetitive motions, climbing, balancing, and other physical activities.
  • Lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to move between worksites and communicate effectively.
  • Subject to environmental conditions and noise levels.
