Job summary

The University of Miami/UHealth Department of Public Safety is seeking a Lead Security Officer to supervise security operations and ensure a safe environment for students, staff, patients and visitors in an assigned facility.

The role focuses on identifying and mitigating risks, coordinating access control, responding to alarms, and producing accurate security reports, with opportunities to mentor staff and assume after-hours leadership as needed.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent is required.
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant security experience.
• Valid State of Florida Driver’s License is required.
• Ability to work evenings, nights and weekends as necessary.
• Must maintain professional conduct and provide accurate reports.

Responsibilities

• Control building access and monitor security of premises.
• Maintain civil order and prevent damage from incidents.
• Respond to alarms and protect vehicles in campus lots.
• Monitor electrical/utility systems and report issues.
• Prepare accurate, up-to-date security reports.
• Provide directions and assistance to staff, students, and visitors.
• Escort unauthorized individuals or coordinate with police as needed.
• Lead and mentor Security Officers, especially in training and shift coverage.
