Job description

You will serve as the Visitor Control Center Lead Security Assistant (Office Automation) within NSA BETHESDA SECURITY DETACHMENT.

The Secretary of Defense has ordered a department-wide hiring freeze with limited exceptions. This position is subject to the DoD hiring freeze. Offers of employment will not be executed until an exemption is approved.

Duties

• Oversee preparation, issuance, and tracking of access badges for Naval Support Activity Bethesda.
• Process and adjudicate documents for base access.
• Receive calls, greet visitors, and direct them to the appropriate office or person.
• Train and review the work of security assistants within the office.
• Distribute workload among security assistants, monitor work progress, estimate completion times, and provide instructions.

Requirements

• Must be a US Citizen.
• Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
• Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.
• New employees must pass the E-Verify employment verification check. Visit e-verify.gov for details.
• Retired military members within 180 days of retirement are subject to 5 U.S.C. 3326 provisions.
• Males born after 12-31-59 must register for Selective Service.
• This is a bargaining unit position.
• Must obtain and maintain a valid US driver’s license.
• Must complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
• Must obtain and maintain a security clearance; failure to do so may result in withdrawal of the offer or removal.
• Position may require travel to CONUS and OCONUS sites, including remote or isolated locations, and extended periods on military and commercial aircraft.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-06 grade level or pay band, or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. The experience must include:

1. Overseeing the issuance and tracking of security access badges;
2. Training and reviewing the work of security assistants;
3. Distributing workload and monitoring work progress;
4. Verifying eligibility and the need for access badges.
