Job summary

Apple's Core OS software team is seeking an exceptional software engineering manager to lead a team building secure inter-process communication (IPC) technologies for Apple's operating systems. Qualifications

• Deep understanding of the C programming language.
• Knowledge of Swift, Objective-C, or C++.
• Knowledge of compiler design, implementation, or toolchain development.
• Experience with UNIX systems and low-level IPC primitives.
• History of shipping complex initiatives on schedule despite ambiguous or shifting requirements.
• Skilled at running effective status reviews, escalations, and alignment meetings across teams.

Responsibilities

• Leadership and management of a team of engineers building secure, low-level communication infrastructure in a fast-paced environment
• Ownership of the technical direction and delivery of multiple concurrent engineering initiatives
• Working with cross-functional and cross-organizational teams — including security, kernel, and platform architecture groups
• Building a technical roadmap that will help influence Apple's next-generation security architecture
• Creating and promoting an engineering culture that encourages innovation while maintaining high standards for quality and productivity
• Identifying and mitigating technical and resourcing risks across all initiatives owned by the team
• Balancing priorities and staffing across multiple projects at different stages of maturity
• Strengthening the team by hiring and retaining top engineering talent
