Job summary

Tr1X is a clinical-stage biotech company advancing Tr1 cell therapies. The Principal Scientist will lead LNP formulation and process development for the in vivo CAR-Treg platform, driving optimization from discovery to IND-enabling scales. This hands-on role requires strong analytical rigor and collaboration in a fast-paced startup environment.

The position is on site in San Diego, with travel up to 10%. Legal work authorization in the U.S. is required.

Qualifications

Ph.D. with 6+ years, or MS with 10+ years, or BS with 12+ years in related field.
Deep expertise in LNP formulation and process development.
Experience with mRNA therapeutics or nucleic acid delivery systems.
Conjugation of targeting ligands to lipid nanoparticles is required.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; able to work in a multidisciplinary startup.
Experience with in vivo studies (mouse/NHP) desirable.

Responsibilities

Lead design, development, and optimization of LNP formulations for mRNA delivery.
Evaluate lipid composition and process parameters to optimize characteristics.
Develop scalable production processes for tLNPs.
Develop analytical methods (DLS, HPLC/UPLC, LC-MS, endotoxin testing).
Interpret data to link physicochemical properties with biology.
Collaborate with platform biology teams and support tech transfers with CDMOs.
Contribute to IND-enabling documentation and long-term strategy.
Support cross-functional development projects and meet objectives.
