Job summary

Leidos Biomedical Research, Inc. in Frederick, MD seeks a Scientist II in the Stem Cell Lab (IPSC) to lead development of iPSC-based models and organoids for the SOM Center.

Qualifications

  • PhD from an accredited college/university.
  • Minimum of two years of postdoctoral or equivalent experience.
  • Basic Microsoft Office skills.
  • Expertise in mammalian cell culture, aseptic technique, and molecular and cellular biology.
  • Experience designing, troubleshooting, and optimizing complex experiments.
  • Experience with experimental design, statistics, data interpretation, and scientific communication.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, including manuscripts and reports.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Design, lead, and execute independent research on iPSC-based models and organoids for the SOM Initiative.
  • Develop and optimize differentiation protocols, assays, and QC for scalable models.
  • Design experiments, analyze complex data, and integrate multi-modal data to advance goals.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary investigators and support collaborative research.
  • Contribute to grant applications, technical reports, and manuscripts.
  • Mentor research staff and foster a collaborative lab environment.
  • May supervise junior level staff and assist with lab management and biosafety compliance.
  • Stay current with advances in stem cell biology and organoid technologies.
