Job summary

Waymo is seeking a leader in data-centric AI to advance the Waymo Driver's data foundation. In this hybrid role, you will report to a Senior Director of AI Foundations and guide a team of research engineers to optimize data for pre-training and post-training of foundation models.

You will drive science on data curation, clustering, de-duplication, and data mining at scale, integrate community research, and collaborate across Waymo engineering and research to share recipes and best practices for

Qualifications

• PhD/Masters with 3+ years in data-centric AI, reinforcement learning or foundation models.
• Publications or open-source contributions demonstrating impact.
• Deep knowledge of ML frameworks and scalable ML pipelines.

Responsibilities

• Own data recipe for foundation model pre-training and post-training.
• Lead science on clustering, filtering, de-duplication, data mining at scale.
• Tech-lead a team of research engineers to build the data flywheel from Waymo's driving data.
• Integrate community research and perform ablations for data-centric evaluation and improvements.
• Collaborate with engineering and research teams to share recipes and best practices.
